MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — The couple found dead inside their home at 4900 Sibley Ave. late Thursday, April 15, have been identified as Donald and Betty Smith.
Autopsies have been scheduled for both this morning, according to an official at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner investigators believe Betty Smith, 64, died at the home around 10 p.m. Thursday and that her husband Donald, 64, died around 10:30 p.m.
Police were dispatched to the home at 11:20 p.m. after receiving a report that a man and woman, both 64, were found dead by their son.
Deputy Chief of Police John DiPietro said the preliminary investigation indicated many of the hallmarks of a murder-suicide, but the incident has not officially been ruled as such.
“There’s a lot of forensic work that has to take place,” DiPietro said. “We’re talking with neighbors to see if anyone saw anything.”
A neighbor, who did not wish to be identified, said the couple have lived at that residence for more than 17 years. He said nothing seemed out of the ordinary earlier in the day Thursday.
