A man accused of kidnapping his ex-partner and her four-year-old daughter has been remanded in custody.
Dalibor Stojanovich appeared dishevelled as he sat barefoot in the dock in Kogarah Local Court.
He is accused of dragging his ex-partner and her daughter into a car at Rockdale, scratching the 31-year-old's face in the process.
He allegedly refused to tell police where the woman and child were when he was arrested at 1:00am on Tuesday, leaving officers searching for the pair for hours. They were found safe.
Stojanovich applied for bail. His lawyer denied the incident was an abduction.
He said the victim's grandmother was involved in the initial argument and it was a scuffle.
The magistrate, Paul Falzon, read a statement the woman gave police last month when she filed for an AVO, saying the 26-year-old threatened to kill her regularly.
Mr Falzon refused bail and adjourned the matter for a week.
